About WCCS

West Coast Computer Systems (WCCS) has been in business for more than 20 years developing classified and editorial systems for the newspaper industry.

We are located in Stockton, California and employ or contract to a number of software and hardware engineers. For a number of years, WCCS built its reputation on custom programming for the publishing industry. We began as developers of hardware interfaces and software drivers for a number of add-on devices to the Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) CMS, EMS and TMS typeset systems. We worked very closely with DEC and consulted with them on a number of projects.

WCCS has just completed development of an NT-based advertising management system including pagination called WinCMS. WinCMS is a PC-based product running under Windows-NT v4.0 employing Microsoft SQL Server v6.5 on the file server. Workstations can operate under Windows-95, 98 or NT. Paginated pages are output through QuarkXPress.

WCCS is also currently converting its editorial system, Phoenix, to the NT platform, PhoenixNT, which will be completed by Q4 of 1998. All Phoenix editorial terminals run under Windows-95, 98 or NT. We have a number of established sites that will convert from their current PDP11-based editorial systems to PhoenixNT in 1998-1999.
